Award-winning filmmaker Mick Garris (The Stand, Amazing Stories, Masters of Horror) will be a featured guest at Portland Horror Film Festival June 5-8th, at the Hollywood Theatre. Garris will attend the festival Friday for the Portland premiere of NIGHTMARE CINEMA w/Q&A, and will be interviewed on stage by local horror podcast The Scariest Things on Saturday.

NIGHTMARE CINEMA is the new twisted horror anthology with segments directed by Mick Garris, Alejandro Brugues (Juan of the Dead), David Slade (30 Days of Night), Ryuhei Kitamura (Midnight Meat Train), and Joe Dante (Gremlins). Mickey Rourke stars as the Projectionist in a creepy movie theater where audience members witness a series of screenings that show them their deepest fears and darkest secrets.

The 4-day lineup at Portland Horror Film Festival boasts a buffet of international independent horror films, including two World Premiere feature films. Stay Out Stay Alive (US), is Dean Yurke’s debut feature as writer and director and will open the festival with Yurke in attendance on Wednesday night with a double feature showing of FANGORIA’S new horror comedy Satanic Panic, directed by Chelsea Stardust. The Funeral (China) written and directed by Yujie Qiu will close the festival on Saturday with lead actress Kunjue Li in attendance.

The Pacific Northwest premiere of Larry Fessenden’s new Frankenstein film, Depraved, will hit the screen on Thursday June 6th. Reborn, directed by Julian Richards, starring Barbara Crampton and Kayleigh Gilbert, will screen on Friday. A veritable smorgasbord of over 40 Short Films sprinkled between features rounds out the program. This year boasts a large cadre of attending filmmakers who will do Q&As after their films screen.

Now in its fourth year, Portland Horror Film Festival was launched by Gwen and Brian Callahan, directors of the popular H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival®. With the goal of promoting and nurturing independent horror film, the Portland Horror Film Festival is the first dedicated all-genre horror film festival in Portland, OR. Film programming is comprised of international independent short and feature-length horror films, many of which you can’t see anywhere else.

Besides being enjoyed by Portland’s distinguished horror fans, and being eligible for a number of Festival Awards, selected films are also reviewed by an industry insider for the Bloody Judge Award. This year’s judge is actor, producer, and makeup effects artist Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Cabin in the Woods). Past judges include Brian Yuzna, producer of Re-Animator and director of Return of the Living Dead III, Gregg Hale, producer of The Blair Witch Project, and Richard Stanley, director of Hardware and the upcoming The Color Out of Space.

Portland Horror Film Festival takes place June 5-8, 2019 at the historic Hollywood Theatre, 4122 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland, OR 97212. Tickets and festival passes are available now.
