The CHUCKY franchise has always managed to keep itself refreshed in pop culture. My little brother is 11 years old, has never seen any of the films or series, but is terrified of my dolls. Chucky has inbred himself into our culture that his mere image can terrify children without any context. I’ve never been afraid of Chucky or any doll, but it takes me by surprise how many people I meet who express fear when they see my Chucky doll collection. Obviously, I’m a huge fan, and the fact that we are now on CHUCKY Season 3, and it makes me all warm inside.
Last season saw our favorite killer doll still terrorizing Jake, Devon, and Lexy along with Tiffany possessing the body of her favorite actress, Jennifer Tilly. The season finale was probably the bloodiest hour of anything Chucky as bodies were sawed in half. Still, Chucky escapes and finds Tiffany as the two continue to screw each other over. Now, years later, Chucky has found himself in the White House.
Devon Sawa returns (again) and this time, he is the president. His family is recovering from a recent tragedy, but his son copes by carrying around his Good Guy doll who calls himself Joseph. While blackouts disrupt government procedures, the bodies start to pile up quickly and suspicions arise that someone is after the president. While we all know who the killer is, what keeps us going is questioning why Chucky is there to begin with. Also, how did he even end up in the White House?
While those questions linger, we also follow our three orphaned teens as they search for Lexy’s missing sister, last seen leaving voluntarily with Tiffany at the end of season two. All three utilize social media for their own content, but Lexy relies on thirst traps to draw attention to her mission, eventually leading them closer to Chucky’s whereabouts.

On top of all this, Tiffany (inside Jennifer’s body) is still up to her old tricks as she has her own thirst for blood. She stands trial for all the murders throughout the series, showing up to court in outrageous outfits that we of course expect. This leads to her meeting some special guest stars and some of the most insane voodoo-related kill sequences.
CHUCKY season 3 is split into two parts, four episodes released in October and the rest at an undisclosed date in 2024. This format actually works as the first four episodes throw a lot at viewers to take in as every character suffers a lot rather quickly. The fast-paced nature is what helps drive me into each episode as there’s no slowing down in this universe of colorful characters.
Jennifer Tilly has become the standout in the franchise since she first showed up in Bride of Chucky and continues to deliver an over-the-top performance here. What solidifies her as a horror icon is that she’s clearly having a f*** ton of fun playing Tiffany and making fun of herself in this fictional alternative reality. Anyone who has followed Tilly’s career will enjoy the many jabs to her filmography here (it’s more than just Bound). The people behind CHUCKY are smart to keep her around and keep her as part of a central narrative.
For the long-term fans, without spoiling anything, the series does continue to involve familiar faces of the franchise and Chucky is still determined to complete his unfinished business. CHUCKY Season 3 continues to pile up the body count but also delivers the narrative successfully with fun characters, both old and new.
CHUCKY Season 3 begins its term on SYFY and USA Network on October 4, next day on Peacock.
