Few franchises have captivated audiences quite like the Insidious franchise has. For over a decade, these movies have kept viewers on the edge of their seats with more scares than they could have imagined. The Insidious franchise not only showcased a strong family connection on screen, but it also revealed a genuine bond among the actors. This allowed viewers to emotionally invest in the characters and story, no matter how scary that story may be. Now, as the final chapter unfolds in INSIDIOUS: THE RED DOOR, the beloved cast reunites once again to bid farewell to one of the genre’s favorite franchises.
For the release of INSIDIOUS: THE RED DOOR, Nightmarish Conjurings’ Shannon McGrew spoke with actor, Lin Shaye. During the interview, they discussed everything from what it’s been like seeing her character, Elise, transform and grow over the years, what she thinks is the draw for fans to the Insidious franchise, and what has been the most enjoyable aspect of being a part of the franchise.
About INSIDIOUS: THE RED DOOR
In INSIDIOUS: THE RED DOOR, the horror franchise’s original cast returns for the final chapter of the Lambert family’s terrifying saga. To put their demons to rest once and for all, Josh (Patrick Wilson, The Conjuring franchise) and a college-aged Dalton (Ty Simpkins) must go deeper into The Further than ever before, facing their family’s dark past and a host of new and more horrifying terrors that lurk behind the red door.
The original cast from Insidious is back with Patrick Wilson (also making his directorial debut), Ty Simpkins (Jurassic World, The Whale), Rose Byrne (Neighbors, 28 Weeks Later), and Andrew Astor (“Saving Grace,” The Hangover) returning. The film also stars Sinclair Daniel (“The Other Black Girl,” “The Good Fight”) and Hiam Abbass (Hellraiser).
The screenplay is written by Scott Teems from a story by Leigh Whannell (The Invisible Man), based on characters created by Leigh Whannell.
The film is produced by Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell.
