Since 1981 when the world first experienced flesh-possessing demons in Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead, horror fans have been blessed with its expanded franchise that has included additional films, TV series, games, and more. In 2019, before the world shut down due to the pandemic, it was announced that the deadites would return in a new installment titled, EVIL DEAD RISE. Written and directed by Lee Cronin, this new addition to the franchise would be a reboot and not a sequel to the first two films or 2013’s Evil Dead. Having since seen the film, I can safely say that the execution of Lee Cronin’s vision will not disappoint fans.
For the release of EVIL DEAD RISE, Nightmarish Conjurings’ Shannon McGrew spoke with actors Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, where they discussed everything from working together despite having to portray characters who are trying to kill one another, the challenges of being immersed in gallons of fake blood, and the physical demands that the roles required.
EVIL DEAD RISE is written/directed by Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground) and produced by Rob Tapert (“Ash vs Evil Dead,” Don’t Breathe) and executive produced by series creator and horror icon Sam Raimi and cult legend and “Ash” himself, Bruce Campbell.
Witness the mother of all evil when EVIL DEAD RISE arrives only in theaters April 21. For more on the film, check out our review.
