Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures has unveiled the official poster, trailer, and release date for the upcoming fantasy film, THREE THOUSAND YEARS OF LONGING. Make sure you check out the trailer below and let us know what you think!
Dr. Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is an academic – content with life and a creature of reason. While in Istanbul attending a conference, she happens to encounter a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom.
This presents two problems. First, she doubts that he is real, and second, because she is a scholar of story and mythology, she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong. The Djinn pleads his case by telling her fantastical stories of his past. Eventually, she is beguiled and makes a wish that surprises them both.
The film stars Idris Elba (The Suicide Squad, The Harder They Fall) and Tilda Swinton (We Need to Talk About Kevin, The French Dispatch).
THREE THOUSAND YEARS OF LONGING is directed by George Miller (Mad Max, Mad Max: Fury Road), who also co-wrote the screenplay with Augusta Gore. The film is based upon the short story “The Djinn in the Nightingale’s Eye” by A.S. Byatt.
The film is executive produced by Dean Hood (“Preacher”), Craig McMahon (2067, Black Site), and Kevin Sun. The music is by Tom Holkenborg (Alita: Battle Angel, Deadpool).
THREE THOUSAND YEARS OF LONGING will be released in theaters on August 31, 2022.
