Umma, which is the Korean word for “mother,” follows Amanda (Sandra Oh) and her daughter (Fivel Stewart) living a quiet life on an American farm, but when the remains of her estranged mother arrive from Korea, Amanda becomes haunted by the fear of turning into her own mother.
UMMA stars Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve,” Turning Red), Fivel Stewart (“Atypical”, Hansel & Gretel), MeeWha Alana Lee (Equal Standard, Nettles), Tom Yi (The Purge, Alex of Venice), with Odeya Rush (The Giver, Dumplin’) and Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding, “New Girl”).
The film is written and directed by Iris K. Shim (The House of Suh, Requiem for a Reboot).
