A young woman goes on a solo vacation to the English countryside after the death of her ex-husband.
In the aftermath of a personal tragedy, Harper (Jessie Buckley) retreats alone to the beautiful English countryside, hoping to have found a place to heal. But someone or something from the surrounding woods appears to be stalking her. What begins as simmering dread becomes a fully-formed nightmare, inhabited by her darkest memories and fears in visionary filmmaker Alex Garland’s (Ex Machina, Annihilation) feverish, shape-shifting new horror film.
The film stars Jessie Buckley (The Lost Daughter, I’m Thinking of Ending Things), Rory Kinnear (“Penny Dreadful: City of Angels“, No Time To Die), and Paapa Essiedu (“Gangs of London”, “I May Destroy You”).
Alex Garland’s MEN arrives in theaters from A24 on May 20, 2022.
Based on initial thoughts of the trailer, there is a definite nod to the Green Man or perhaps the Horned God. The shapeshifting elements provide a broader expansion on the god if that is something Garland is exploring. What are your thoughts? Let us know!
