Man or beast…the lines blur as soon as one steps into NIGHTMARE ALLEY.
In NIGHTMARE ALLEY, an ambitious carny (Bradley Cooper) with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words hooks up with a female psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) who is even more dangerous than he is.
When charismatic but down-on-his-luck Stanton Carlisle (Bradley Cooper) endears himself to clairvoyant Zeena (Toni Collette) and her has-been mentalist husband Pete (David Strathairn) at a traveling carnival, he crafts a golden ticket to success, using this newly acquired knowledge to grift the wealthy elite of 1940s New York society. With the virtuous Molly (Rooney Mara) loyally by his side, Stanton plots to con a dangerous tycoon (Richard Jenkins) with the aid of a mysterious psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) who might be his most formidable opponent yet.
The film stars Bradley Cooper (A Star is Born, The Hangover Trilogy), Cate Blanchett (Where’d You Go, Bernadette, Carol), Toni Collette (Hereditary, Knives Out), Willem Dafoe (The Lighthouse, Shadow of the Vampire), Richard Jenkins (The Shape of Water, Jack Reacher), Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Mary Magdalene), Ron Perlman (“Sons of Anarchy”, Hellboy), and David Strathairn (Lincoln, Good Night and Good Luck).
NIGHTMARE ALLEY will open its curtains to venture into theaters on December 17, 2021.
