Valdimar Jóhannsson’s LAMB 𑁋 winner of the Cannes Un Certain Regard Prize of Originality 𑁋 has been selected as Iceland’s Official Entry for Best International Feature Film at the 2022 Academy Awards®.

A childless couple in rural Iceland make an alarming discovery one day in their sheep barn. They soon face the consequences of defying the will of nature, in this dark and atmospheric folktale, the striking debut feature from director Valdimar Jóhannsson.

The film stars Noomi Rapace (The Secrets We Keep, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Trilogy), Hilmir Snær Guðnason (Polite People, Angels of the Universe), Björn Hlynur Haraldsson (“The Witcher“, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga), and Ingvar E. Sigurðsson (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Everest.)

LAMB is directed by Valdimar Jóhannsson, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Sjón.

LAMB is the first film distributed by A24 to be selected as a country’s official entry for Best International Feature Film. Since opening on October 8, 2021, LAMB has spent two weeks in the box office top ten, grossing over $2 million. To learn more about the film, check out our review!
