When Fede Alvarez’s 2016 horror film, Don’t Breathe, was released it quickly became polarizing due to THAT scene featuring the protagonist Norman Nordstrom (Stephen Lang) and a turkey baster, a moment that made the audience realize how monstrous Norman was. When it was announced that a sequel was in the works with Norman, as the protagonist, protecting his daughter from unknown intruders, many wondered if Norman was going to get a redemption arc that would frame him as the hero instead of the monster he really is. And this Friday, viewers will get to make that decision for themselves when DON’T BREATHE 2 arrives.
For the release of DON’T BREATHE 2, Nightmarish Conjurings’ Shannon McGrew spoke with Director/Co-Writer Rodo Sayagues and Co-Writer Fede Alvarez where they discussed everything from why they returned to Norman Nordstrom’s world, their favorite kills in the film, and more.
DON’T BREATHE 2 is directed by Rodo Sayagues and is written by Sayagues and Fede Alvarez (The Girl in the Spider’s Web, Evil Dead). The film stars Stephen Lang (VFW, Gods and Generals, Tombstone) returning as Norman Nordstrom, Brendan Sexton III (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie), and Madelyn Grace (“Z Nation”, “Grey’s Anatomy”).
