Recently, Nightmarish Conjurings had the chance to attend a virtual event to kickoff production for TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS, which was moderated by Director Steven Caple Jr. and Producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, with special appearances by stars Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback.

Returning to the action and spectacle that first captured moviegoers around the world 14 years ago with the original Transformers, TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS will take audiences on a ’90s globetrotting adventure and introduce the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons.

Kicking things off was Producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura who wanted it to be known that this Transformer‘s movie would be bringing something new to the table. “We want to give the audience a lot of new things. We have exhausted the battle between the two enemies,” explained Bonaventura. “You’re going to see villains and Autobots like you’ve never seen before.”

Optimus Prime, who once again will be voiced by Peter Cullen, returns after being absent from 2018’s Bumblebee. Director Steven Caple Jr. explained that they’ll be paying homage to Optimus Prime’s G1 robot form and will be exploring his connection to Earth. Also returning is Bumblebee who’s upgraded design will be an off-road version of himself. Arcee, one of the female Autobots, will also be returning from Bumblebee.

As for our villains, the Autobots and the Decepticons will find themselves up against the ferocious Scourge and his minions. Our villain’s right-hand robot, Nightbird, who switched from the Autobots to the Decepticons, will be on-hand to fight. Additionally, we will also have the appearance of Maximals, seen from the Beast Wars cartoons, featuring Airazor, Rhinox, and Optimus Primal.

TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS will take place in 1994 starting in Brooklyn, NY where our two main characters, Elena (played by Dominique Fishback; Judas and the Black Messiah) and Noah (played by Anthony Ramos; Hamilton, In The Heights), reside. From the brief information we received, Fishback will be an artifact researcher with Ramos being ex-military taking care of his brother.

What began as a toy has now become a pop culture mainstay throughout the world. With TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS, fans should look forward to exploring the next stage of the Transformers franchise. TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS is set to arrive in theaters on June 24, 2022.
