Be careful who you pray to….
THE UNHOLY follows Alice, a young hearing-impaired girl who, after a supposed visitation from the Virgin Mary, is inexplicably able to hear, speak and heal the sick. As word spreads and people from near and far flock to witness her miracles, a disgraced journalist (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) hoping to revive his career visits the small New England town to investigate. When terrifying events begin to happen all around, he starts to question if these phenomena are the works of the Virgin Mary or something much more sinister.
The film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (“Supernatural”, “The Walking Dead“), Katie Aselton (“The League”, Black Rock), William Sadler (Bill & Ted Face the Music, The Green Mile), Cricket Brown (Dukeland, Prayer) with Diogo Morgado (Love Finds You in Valentine, The Killer) and Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, Saw).
THE UNHOLY is produced by Sam Raimi (Crawl, The Evil Dead), Rob Tapert (“Xena: Warrior Princess”, Army of Darkness), and Evan Spiliotopoulos, written for the screen and directed by Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and the Huntsman 2), and is based upon James Herbert’s best-selling book Shrine.
The film is executive produced by Andrea Ajemian (Fatal Flip, The Assault) and Romel Adam (The Grudge, Nightbooks).
THE UNHOLY will open in theaters on Good Friday, April 2, 2021.
