British comedy duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reunited to co-create and star in the Amazon Prime show TRUTH SEEKERS, which follows Gus (Frost) and his new partner Elton (Samson Kayo) as they investigate and document paranormal occurrences. Pegg is featured as Gus’s boss, while the main cast also includes Emma D’Arcy, Malcolm McDowell, Susie Wokoma and Julian Barratt. Blending humor and horror, TRUTH SEEKERS takes on any and all ghosts they come across, including some that seem hauntingly familiar.

For the premiere of TRUTH SEEKERS, I spoke with Frost and Kayo during a roundtable about how viewers can find solace in what’s scary, and where the show will take the gang next.

**POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW – YOU ARE WARNED**

What do you hope that viewers take away from these first eight episodes?

Nick Frost: I would like people to like it, um, you know, be afraid… to laugh and to enjoy the characters… I don’t want to sound negative or chubbish, but maybe it’s alright if they were just watching and it washes over you and it’s fun and then you go off and make a bit of toast and a cup of tea.

Has the pandemic changed your perspective on the series and your characters at all?

Nick Frost: Obviously it’s awful and I fucking hate it, but it’s kind of helped TRUTH SEEKERS in terms of, this could be happening in TRUTH SEEKERS! It feels like as a backdrop, it’s really poignant, you know.

Samson Kayo: Yeah, for me it’s the same. Elton’s the type of character that needs to be pushed to do what he’s always wanted to do or to kind of find out or stop running from the trauma that haunts him. [Similar to the] pandemic, it’s kind of awoken a lot of people to kind of, you know, take a leap of faith in terms of their fears and just pushing through because it’s been quite an uncertain year. I think there’s certain aspects that kind of mirror each other.

Nick Frost: It’s also that kind of thing in reality now: you have groups of – I don’t know what to call them – but people who are burning down 5G masts because they believe it transmits COVID. It’s like, you couldn’t write that shit, it’s fucking great!

Where would you like to see your characters go in the future? (SPOILERS BELOW)

Nick Frost: If Astrid (Emma D’Arcy) has come through [from the other side], then Gus’s wife could come through too, or he could go see her, you know, so, maybe I’d like to see that, you know, I’d like to see maybe the gang. Maybe we won’t bring Astrid through for a while, maybe we’ll see her on that side. I don’t think I’ve seen that before, really, or much on TV in terms of trying to answer the question of “what is it, where are you,” you know. That would be cool, I think.

Samson Kayo: I want a dragon.

Nick Frost: Fuck it!

Samson Kayo: I want a dragon that spits out biscuits.

Nick Frost: Shits biscuits!

Samson Kayo: Shits biscuits!

TRUTH SEEKERS is now available to stream on Amazon Prime.
