IFC Midnight has dropped the official trailer for the paranoia-driven thriller, KINDRED, which you can check out in the player below.

KINDRED explores themes of control and a young woman’s struggle with the slow breakdown of her own sense of reality in this twisted psychological drama, with a screenplay by Joe Marcantonio and Jason McColgan.

A psychological thriller rippling with suspense, KINDRED follows vulnerable mother-to-be Charlotte (Tamara Lawrance) as she is taken in by her recently deceased boyfriend’s mother (Fiona Shaw) and her stepson (Jack Lowden), who seem increasingly obsessed with her every move. Plagued by mysterious hallucinations, Charlotte’s suspicions grow about Margaret and Thomas’ intentions for her unborn child.

The film stars a breakout performance by Tamara Lawrance (The Long Song, “No Offence”), Jack Lowden (Dunkirk, Fighting With My Family), Fiona Shaw (“Killing Eve”, Enola Holmes), and Edward Holcroft (Kingsman, The Sense of an Ending). John Keville & Morgan Bushe of Fastnet Films serve as Executive Producers alongside Norman Merry & Peter Hampden of Lipsync Productions, Phil Hunt, and Compton Ross of Head Gear Films, Serotonin Films, and Gareth Wiley.

Having directed commercials for over fifteen years, Joe Marcantonio has shot hundreds of jobs for clients as diverse as Amazon, Paul Smith, Microsoft, John Lewis, Paul McCartney and Nike. His short films have played at festivals worldwide including Cannes, Edinburgh, Raindance, San Francisco, Holly Shorts, Manchester and even London’s Design Museum. He has won four ‘Vimeo Staff Picks’ – the last of which was ‘Red Light’, an acclaimed short drama starring BIFA winner and BAFTA nominee Jessie Buckley (Wild Rose, Beast) and BAFTA Scotland nominee Martin McCann (Calibre, The Survivalist).

KINDRED will be Marcantonio’s directorial debut. It is also known by the alternative title ‘Corvidae’.

KINDRED will be released in select theaters, on Digital, and on Cable Video On Demand on November 6, 2020.
