[News] A24 Postpones SAINT MAUD Once More!

We are sad to report that A24 is, once again, postponing the upcoming SAINT MAUD from being released in theaters as per confirmation from outlet Bloody Disgusting.

Originally, set to be released in April, A24 announced in June that the film would finally get its release on July 17. Alas, the powers-that-be aka COVID-19 had other plans. There is no news yet at this time as to when the film will be released. For now, it’s on hold.

While I do appreciate A24’s emphasis on waiting to play the film in theaters, I do wonder whether or not it is a missed opportunity not to release the film on Digital. We have no clue when the situation surrounding COVID-19 is going to abate or settle itself. And, with so many eagerly awaiting fans dying for the opportunity to see the film, I’m wondering how long fan interest would last with further postponement.

The unholy possession thriller is the first feature from writer/director Rose Glass — a stunning horror debut in the vein of Hereditary and The Witch that critics are hailing “a mesmerizing horror masterpiece” and “the next great horror film”!

The debut film from writer-director Rose Glass, SAINT MAUD is a chilling and boldly original vision of faith, madness, and salvation in a fallen world. Maud, a newly devout hospice nurse, becomes obsessed with saving her dying patient’s soul — but sinister forces, and her own sinful past, threaten to put an end to her holy calling.

The film stars Morfydd Clark (Crawl, Love & Friendship), Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty, The King’s Speech), Lily Frazer (“Sex Education”, “Ladhood”), Lily Knight (The Purge: Anarchy, Secretary), Marcus Hutton (Cycle, I’m Here), Turlough Convery (Doing Money, “Sanditon”), and Rosie Sansom (Love Bite, “The Rook”).

The film was written and directed by Rose Glass (Room 55, The Silken Strand) in what serves to be her debut film.

What are your thoughts on the film’s latest postponement? Would you be willing to wait until it’s safe to see SAINT MAUD in theaters or would you rather have it available on Digital now? Let us know in the comments below!
