Shirley Jackson is a bonafide horror and thriller writing legend. With her work seeing a massive resurgence in popularity in recent years, with Netflix’s series “The Haunting of Hill House”, the recent adaptation of We Have Always Lived in the Castle, and more, it’s hard not to be completely entranced and fascinated by this woman’s works. Now audiences can get a taste of what she was like in NEON Rated’s recently released film.

NEON Rated has revealed a brand new trailer for their adaptation of Susan Scarf Merrell’s novel SHIRLEY. Make sure you check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

Renowned horror writer Shirley Jackson is on the precipice of writing her masterpiece when the arrival of newlyweds upends her meticulous routine and heightens tensions in her already tempestuous relationship with her philandering husband. The middle-aged couple, prone to ruthless barbs and copious afternoon cocktails, begins to toy mercilessly with the naïve young couple at their door.

SHIRLEY stars Elisabeth Moss (Invisible ManUs) as Shirley Jackson, Odessa Young (Assassination Nation, A Million Little Pieces), Michael Stuhlbarg (Call Me By Your Name, The Shape of Water), and Logan Lerman (“Hunters“, The Perks of Being a Wallflower).

The film is directed by Josephine Decker (Thou Wast Mild and Lovely, Madeline’s Madeline) and written by Sarah Gubbins (“I Love Dick”, “Better Things”).

SHIRLEY is now available to view everywhere. Want to learn more about the film?
