Netflix has announced the impending arrival of a brand new post-apocalyptic series, SWEET TOOTH, a new series based on characters from DC. Executive Producer Robert Downey Jr. also announced the news on his personal social channels.

SWEET TOOTH is the broad appeal, family-friendly, storybook adventure of Gus — part deer, part boy — who leaves his home in the forest to find the outside world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. He joins a ragtag family of humans and animal-children hybrids like himself in search of answers about this new world and the mystery behind his hybrid origins.

The series stars Christian Convery (Beautiful Boy, Tiger Rising, Playing With Fire), Nonso Anozie (The Laundromat, Zoo, “Game of Thrones”), Adeel Akhtar (“Les Misérables”, Victoria & Abdul, The Big Sick) and Will Forte (“The Last Man on Earth”, “Saturday Night Live”, Extra Ordinary), with James Brolin (Life in Pieces, Amityville Horror, Westworld) as the voice of the narrator.

The series is written by Jim Mickle (Hap and Leonard, In the Shadow of the Moon, Cold In July) and Beth Schwartz (Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) based on characters created by DC by Jeff Lemire. Mickle and Schwartz are also co-showrunners and executive producers on the series.

Also, executive producing are Team Downey’s Robert Downey Jr. (Avengers: Endgame, Dolittle), Susan Downey (Sherlock Homes, Gothika), and Amanda Burrell (“Perry Mason”, “Days That Shook The World”); and Linda Moran (We Are What We Are, Transamerica). Team Downey’s Evan Moore (“The Age of A.I.”) is a producer.

There will be eight episodes, with them lasting one hour each in duration. As of now, there is no further news yet as to when the series will officially launch on Netflix. Stay tuned for further announcements in the future.
