Saban Films announced today that they will release Robin Pront’s (The Ardennes) THE SILENCING, starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (“Game of Thrones”, Shot Caller), Annabelle Wallis (The Mummy, “Peaky Blinders”) and Hero Fiennes Tiffin (After, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), in the U.S.
An official selection of the SXSW Film Festival slated for the Midnighters program, the crime-thriller THE SILENCING was penned by Micah Ranum as his debut feature film with Anova Pictures’ Cybill Lui Eppich (Pay the Ghost, After the Dark) producing. Saban Films, which partnered with XYZ Films on the project since script stage, executive produced along with XYZ Films’ Aram Tertzakian and Maxime Cottray.
THE SILENCING follows a reformed hunter living in isolation on a wildlife sanctuary who becomes involved in a deadly game of cat and mouse when he and the local Sheriff set out to track a vicious killer who may have kidnapped his daughter years ago.
Saban Films’ Bill Bromiley said, “Nikolaj and Annabelle are fantastic in this thrilling tale that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. While we are deeply saddened that it could not premiere at this year’s SXSW, we are honored to be able to share Robin Pront’s film with our audiences.”
Bill Bromiley and Jonathan Saba negotiated the deal for Saban Films along with Endeavor Content and Nate Bolotin at XYZ Films on behalf of the filmmakers.
Saban Films continues to grow its presence in the industry, remaining active in the acquisition, production and distribution space. The company’s successes have run the gamut from critically acclaimed theatrical films such as The Homesman starring Hilary Swank, to two of the biggest Fathom events with horror icon and heavy metal mastermind Rob Zombie’s 3 From Hell last year and Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, the sequel to the 2001 comedy Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back which the company partnered on after coming onboard at script stage. Its upcoming slate includes: Nicol Paone’s Friendsgiving with Malin Akerman, Christine Taylor, Jane Seymour, Kat Dennings and Chelsea Peretti; John Suits’ Breach starring Bruce Willis; and Twist starring Michael Caine, Lena Headey and Rita Ora.
