[News] Scripts Gone Wild Takes On THE MONSTER SQUAD

When you can’t quite get the rights to the classic Universal monsters, and you really wanna one-up The Goonies – what do you do? Well, if you’re Fred Dekker and Shane Black, you create THE MONSTER SQUAD, one of the coolest films to emerge from the 1980’s. Scripts Gone Wild takes its particular brand of madness ‘on the road’ to The Frida Cinema in Santa Ana for a special reading of the cult classic, in partnership with Horrible Imaginings Film Festival, one of Southern California’s premiere genre festivals.

Headlining this nardtastic reading are: Andre Gower, best known as “Sean” from THE MONSTER SQUAD, and director/producer of the wildly successful documentary, Wolfman’s Got Nards, chronicling the fervent fanbase for the film; and Ryan Lambert, best known as the cool kid, “Rudy”, from the film, and a veteran television and film actor, and one of the subjects of the Wolfman’s Got Nards documentary as well. “Having two such iconic actors from the actual film take on different roles for the reading is a dream come true,” says Scripts Gone Wild founder Billy Ray Brewton. “I am geeking out to the point of overload.”

Joining them are a host of Scripts Gone Wild favorites:

Kimmy Shields (actor – Netflix’s Insatiable; HBO’s Big Little Lies; Ad Astra), Aaron Laplante (voice actor – Adult Swim’s Primal; Samurai Jack), Frank Dietz (actor – Zombie Nightmare, Rock N Roll Nightmare; screenwriter, I Hate Kids), Alexis Iacono (voice actor – World of Warcrafts; actress, The Black Dahlia Haunting), Barak Hardley, (actor – Spell, The Mortuary Collection; Halt and Catch Fire, Togetherness), Chad Addison (actor – Most Likely to Die; The Rookie; All Rise; 9-1-1), Clay Keller (host of the Screen Drafts podcast; co-host of Vidiots Trivia), and Miguel Rodriguez (founder/director, Horrible Imaginings Film Festival) …with more readers to be announced in the coming days.

Founded in 2016 at the Chattanooga Film Festival, Scripts Gone Wild is a monthly script reading series where a group of suspecting celebs, filmmakers, and influencers are taken – a movie script and alcohol put in their hands – and chaos ensues! It’s a drinking game – any time a reader flubs a line, misses their cue – THEY DRINK! We even let the audience get in on the action by choosing ‘trigger words’ that only increase the likelihood of the evening getting, well…’wild’. Previous readers have included: Joel McHale (Community), Perez Hilton, Tracie Thoms (Cold Case), Diedrich Bader (The Drew Carey Show), and Ross Marquand (The Walking Dead).

SCRIPTS GONE WILD – THE MONSTER SQUAD takes place Saturday December 7th at 8:00pm at The Frida Cinema located at 305 E. 4th Street #100 in Santa Ana, CA.
