This Memorial Day weekend, SpongeBob SquarePants, his best friend Patrick Star and the rest of the gang from Bikini Bottom hit the big screen in the first-ever all CGI SpongeBob motion picture event. After SpongeBob’s beloved pet snail Gary is snail-napped, he and Patrick embark on an epic adventure to The Lost City of Atlantic City to bring Gary home. As they navigate the delights and dangers on this perilous and hilarious rescue mission, SpongeBob and his pals prove there’s nothing stronger than the power of friendship.
The film stars the vocal stylings of Tom Kenny (“Adventure Time”, “Rick and Morty”), Awkwafina (Paradise Hills, “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance“), Clancy Brown (Thor: Ragnarok, “Emergence”), Rodger Bumpass (“Invader Zim”, Spirited Away), Bill Fagerbakke (“How I Met Your Mother”, The Hunchback of Notre Dame), Carolyn Lawrence (“Moral Orel”, “The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius”), Douglas Lawrence (“Rocko’s Modern Life”, “Uncle Grandpa”), and Reggie Watts (Duck Duck Goose, Pitch Perfect 2).
The film is directed and written by Tim Hill (Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever, Hop). It is produced by Ryan Harris (The Book of Life, The Lego Batman Movie) and executive produced by Stephen Hillenburg, who created the original “Spongebob Squarepants” series.
THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE: SPONGE ON THE RUN will speed its way into theaters on May 22, 2020. Are you ready? Cause Spongebob is.
