COUNTDOWN, a new free app that appeared in the iOS App store only a few weeks ago has already been downloaded over 6 million times. Mysteriously, after climbing to the #1 spot in the iTunes App Store, the app was pulled down from the store. And then less than a week later, it returned; shooting right back up into the app charts. What is it? Why is this creepy app such a viral sensation?
Inspired by the upcoming STXfilms release, COUNTDOWN, the app was actually created by an excited horror film fan – and once it’s downloaded, it gives users a creepy countdown to represent their time left to live. People are absolutely obsessed with this macabre concept!
