“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” Scripts Gone Wild, the best kept secret in Los Angeles, returns to El Cid on Sunset with a celebration of all things ‘vampire’, ‘teenage’, and ‘lusty’ with a reading of Joel Schumacher’s The Lost Boys. It’s the film that had young lads and lasses across the country fantasizing about Jason Patric and Kiefer Sutherland. It’s the film that made “The Coreys” a household name. And, it’s the film that had so many film and theatre fans asking – “Why in the world is Dianne Wiest in this picture?”
Joining Scripts Gone Wild in their first appearances are Jon Cozart, better known by his online alias “Paint”, whose YouTube channel has amassed more than 450,000,000 views thanks to viral hits like “Harry Potter in 99 Seconds” and “After Ever After”; and voice actor Aaron Laplante, known for his work on Samurai Jack, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, and the upcoming animated feature film, Primal.
Joining them are popular Scripts Gone Wild alums: actor Barak Hardley, co-star of the upcoming horror anthology, The Mortuary Collection; and writer and star of the independent film, Spell, currently on the festival circuit; actress Kimmy Shields, best known as “Nonnie” from the popular Netflix comedy series, Insatiable, and from recent films, Charlie Says and Ad Astra; and Daniel Sugimoto, returning as live accompanist to help celebrate the amazing soundtrack and score from The Lost Boys (if you haven’t heard it, treat yourself). Additional casting and headliner will be announced leading up to reading.
The chosen charity for this read is TRICK-OR-TREAT FOR UNICEF. UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. Their “Trick or Treat” campaign has been ongoing for decades. “Can’t express how excited we are to be supporting such an amazing organization,” said Scripts Gone Wild founder, Billy Ray Brewton. “The creative work they do, particularly during the Halloween season, seemed like such a natural fit.”
Founded in 2016 at the Chattanooga Film Festival, Scripts Gone Wild is a monthly script reading series where a group of suspecting celebs, filmmakers, and influencers are taken – a movie script and alcohol put in their hands – and chaos ensues! It’s a drinking game – any time a reader flubs a line, misses their cue – THEY DRINK! We even let the audience get in on the action by choosing ‘trigger words’ that only increase the likelihood of the evening getting, well…’wild’. Previous readers have included: Joel McHale (Community), Perez Hilton, Tracie Thoms (Cold Case), Diedrich Bader (The Drew Carey Show), and Ross Marquand (The Walking Dead).
SCRIPTS GONE WILD – THE LOST BOYS takes place Wednesday October 30th at 8:00pm at El Cid on Sunset located at 4212 Sunset Blvd. Tickets are $20 for VIP SEATING and $10 for GENERAL ADMISSION, with proceeds benefiting UNICEF.
