Safehouse ’82, Spy Brunch LLC‘s sequel to the critically acclaimed immersive hit Safehouse ’77, will premiere November 6 for a strictly limited run of 16 performances. Each performance will accommodate 13 audience members.
Taking place exactly five years after the events of Safehouse ’77, the site-specific thriller Safehouse ’82 will once again immerse audiences in the culture and atmosphere of its particular era. This time, however, guests should be prepared to play a much more significant role in the story: their choices will directly impact the show’s outcome, and the fates of key characters will be in their hands. Vastly different endings will be possible depending on how the audience works together to complete the evening’s mission.
The plot of Safehouse ’82 draws heavily on true events from the CIA’s history, and details of espionage tactics and technology will be incorporated into the interactive elements of the show, all with the goal of making audiences feel like they are truly inside a high-tension spy film. Also, while Safehouse ’77 utilized a system of pre-assigned audience tracks, Safehouse ’82 will provide guests with a higher level of agency, creating a “sandbox” environment in which they are often free to move between different rooms, characters, and experiences.
Safehouse ’82 features returning Safehouse ’77 cast members Katie Rediger, Katelyn Schiller, Shoshanna Green, Ashley Jones, and Nick Rheinwald-Jones, along with new addition Lauren Hayes (co-star of They Who Saw The Deep and Cold War Lounge: The Asset).
Safehouse ’82 is written by Nick Rheinwald-Jones & Katelyn Schiller, co-creators of this year’s immersive hit The Pod, which was nominated as Best Immersive Production at the Hollywood Fringe Festival and won the Golden Key Award for Immersive Theater, presented by The Speakeasy Society.
Lyndsie Scoggin returns as Creative Producer. Since Safehouse ’77 she founded CoAct Productions in which she directed and co-produced immersive theatre hits The Sideshow (2018) and The Severance Theory: Welcome to Respite (2019) and collaborated with Spy Brunch LLC and Sampson Creative Enterprises on this fall’s Cold War Lounge: The Asset. Lyndsie is proud to serve as a member of The League of Experiential and Immersive Artists (LEIA) on the Outreach Committee. She is thankful to be working with Spy Brunch once again for Safehouse ’82.
Niyia Mack (Line Producer) offers experience creating traditional theatre and immersive experiences for audiences of 11,000 to 10. Most recently, she completed an arts advocacy fellowship with Arts for LA. Proud board member of The League of Experiential and Immersive Artists (LEIA) since 2018.
Safehouse ’82 is directed by Nick Rheinwald-Jones and produced by Spy Brunch LLC.
