MPI/Dark Sky Films are proud to announce that the upcoming meta horror-comedy anthology film SCARE PACKAGE will make its much-anticipated world premiere at Spain’s prestigious Sitges Film Festival.

SCARE PACKAGE will have its premiere on October 4th at the Rialto theater as part of their Midnight Xtreme showcase. Director/Producer Aaron B. Koontz, as well as Producers Cameron Burns and Ashleigh Snead will be in attendance.

The film features a series of short segments taking aim at traditional genre tropes and overused clichés. Each director has selected a different horror subgenre to showcase in a world where cell phones magically stop working and help is always a minute too late.

SCARE PACKAGE proudly features a diverse group of up and coming genre filmmakers, which includes the directorial debuts of actor Noah Segan (Looper, the upcoming Knives Out) and comedian/actor Baron Vaughn (“Grace and Frankie”, MST3k). Emily Hagins (Netflix’s Coin Heist, Grow Up Tony Phillips), Anthony Cousins (The Bloody Ballad of Squirt Reynolds), Chris McInroy (Bad Guy #2, Death Metal), Courtney and Hillary Andujar (Production Designers of The Girl On The Third Floor, Bloodline), and Koontz (Camera Obscura, the upcoming The Pale Door) round out the impressive collection of filmmakers.

SCARE PACKAGE was produced by Austin-based boutique genre production company Paper Street Pictures and developed by Koontz and Burns, who previously collaborated on the horror-thriller Camera Obscura, which Koontz directed and the pair co-wrote. Additional producers include Alex Euting, Shawn Talley, and Ashleigh Snead for Paper Street as well as Kris Phipps.

SCARE PACKAGE was born out of our love for all things Horror and Genre Cinema.” said Koontz “So to have the opportunity to premiere this at one of the oldest and largest genre festivals in the world, is truly a dream come true. I can’t wait for the world to see this absurd wild ride that we have put together with the next generation of great horror filmmakers.”

“Sitges is such a prominent and important festival in the genre and horror culture. Scare Package is a perfect fit for this highly regarded festival and we look forward to making the film available for worldwide audiences to see.” Added Nicola Goelzhaeuser, VP of International Sales for MPI Media Group.
