“Do you like scary movies?” How about a group of celebrities, filmmakers, and influencers getting inebriated for charity? On June 27th, Scripts Gone Wild, the drunkards of debauchery, return with a jam-packed reading of Wes Craven’s 1996 masterpiece, the game-changing SCREAM, benefiting Hollywood Fringe Festival. The reading is being headlined by columnist and blogger Perez Hilton, who will be stepping into the iconic role of “Randy”, played in the film by Jamie Kennedy – the fast-talking horror movie nerd.
Joining Hilton for the reading are: Kit Williamson, the writer/director/star of the hit LGBTQ series, Eastsiders, and Ed from the series, Mad Men; Jackie Zebrowski, SGW favorite and co-host of the Page Seven and Sex and Other Human Activities podcasts; Alexis Iacono, known for her voice work in the World of Warcraft series; and SGW favorite, Frank Dietz, genre icon known for Zombie Nightmare and Rock N Roll Nightmare.
Also stepping into the Scripts Gone Wild arena for the first time are Hollywood Fringe Festival staffers, Community Programs Director Ellen Den Herder and Events Manager Alex Prehm, as well as Fringe participants Jake Ferree (Sex with Strangers), and Spencer Frankenberger (Jamba Juice The Musical). Additional readers (including more Fringe participants) and co-headliners will be announced in the last wave on Monday June 17th.
Sponsored by Mulholland Distilling and Q Mixers, all proceeds will benefit Hollywood Fringe Festival, a non-profit. “We want to bring together the most eclectic group of readers possible,” said Scripts Gone Wild founder Billy Ray Brewton. “In doing that, we really feel like we’re honoring the spirit of the charity we’re supporting this month.”
Scripts Gone Wild is a monthly script reading series which takes celebrities, filmmakers, and influencers, gives them a popular film script, and thrusts them head-first into a drinking game where they are penalized for line flubs and missed cues. As the readers make mistakes, and as the drinks pile up, the riotous nature of the event really starts to shine. Scripts are rarely finished and – when they are – they might just be a mess. The audience even gets in on the action and helps dictate just how ‘wild’ the evening gets!
SCRIPTS GONE WILD – SCREAM takes places Thursdsay June 27th at 8:00pm at El Cid on Sunset (4212 Sunset Blvd). VIP tickets are $20 and general admission tickets are $10 ($15 at the door).
