First Love Films has announced that WARIGAMI will be premiering in competition at Canneseries on April 10th at 10 AM. This show focuses on a fun, action adventure about a female Japanese warrior who specializes in making lethal weapons out of paper, will debut later this year on CBC Gem in Canada and on CW Seed in the US.
There will be ten episodes in the series, with a run time of six to twelve minutes each.
Wendy Ohata has just made three startling realizations: One, she has a twin brother named Vincent. Two, she’s a kami-jin – a descendant of an ancient Japanese people who can turn paper into deadly weapons. And three, there’s a kami-jin warrior named Sadako hunting her down for reasons she doesn’t understand
WARIGAMI stars Emily Piggford (“The Girlfriend Experience”, Killjoys), Kai Bradbury (“The Man in the High Castle”, “Altered Carbon”), Akiel Julien (“The Boys”, “The Next Step”), Miho Suzuki (Colossal, Summer Leaf Drop), Hiro Kanagawa (Fifty Shades Freed, “iZombie”), and David Hewlett (The Shape of Water, “Stargate: Atlantis”).
The series is directed by Jason Lapeyre (I Declare War, Cold Blooded). It is written by Andrew Allen (“Glow”, Dance with the Devil).
