Hey freaks! I’m back at it with another gruesome review for all you horror hounds out there. This time we’re diving into the horror short titled THE CROSSING, written and directed by Thomas Haley.
THE CROSSING is a story of a vengeful bride-to-be that lost her husband moments before their wedding. The crash happens at The Crossing followed by a series of random killings ending lovers future plans for happiness.
First off, I want to mention that this short is crammed with a plethora of indie film actors that I’m totally familiar with including Felissa Rose, Charles Chudabala and Lara Jean, which made the viewing that much more exciting for me. I always enjoy the films that involve these particular actors and if you do as well, I would definitely suggest checking out Ugly Sweater Party, which is available on Amazon Prime.
Despite how tragic the story behind the lore is in this film, it’s actually very fun and fresh. The concept reminded me a bit of the story behind Constance, the bride in the Haunted Mansion attraction at Disneyland. Although not entirely the same by any means, there is a vengeful bride that never made it to her big day.
Another thing I want to point out is the soundtrack. Taking into consideration how short the film is, they seem to have carefully handpicked the tracks to coincide with each scene. It’s always nice to view a film that feels entirely put together and not rushed, regardless of the budget.
THE CROSSING is one part supernatural and one part slasher film which is a fantastic combination in my book! Overall this short is fun, original, and embodies all the campiness of a horror genre film while still bringing something fresh to the table. If you have the chance to check it out, please treat yourself!
