Hey vamps and weres, I’m back with my last review for the Twilight saga, BREAKING DAWN PART 2. I was super excited to look back on this film for the Twilight anniversary. This is probably one of my favorite ones from the saga and the end of a magical world.
In BREAKING DAWN PART 2, we finally get to see Bella as a vampire and she’s the living her best life. It’s easy to see that this life, vampirism, was always meant for her. She proves time and time again that she’s stronger than anyone knows including herself. She was born to be a vampire.
Her first reaction to Renesmee is beautiful. A child she fought for when almost everyone else wanted to destroy it. She even died for this child, a true sacrifice. However, what makes this moment a bit more comical is when she finds out Jacob has imprinted on her daughter. She loses her shit. I mean, I would too. The guy who was always trying to get into your pants, will one day be with your daughter. Not awkward at all.
“You named my daughter after the Loch Ness monster!”
One of my favorite things about this film is that they figured out a way for Charlie to still be apart of their lives. Charlie is such a great dad, and I loved how he embraced all the changes including his uniquely beautiful granddaughter. He is one of the best characters of the saga and this story wouldn’t be the same without him.
As half vampire/half human, Renesmee grows up quickly, and when another grieving vampire catches whim of this she thinks the worst and reports back to the Volturi. This is the Volturi’s chance to take on the Cullen’s and it’s the ultimate battle. The Cullen’s aren’t going down without a fight, though. They’ve recruited vampires from all over the world to help along with the werewolves. Something the Volturi won’t see coming.
I loved seeing all the different vampires as this was the highlight of the film. Each one was so different with unique gifts, talents, and a unique outlook on what it means to be a vampire.
The battle is insane, and, in the film, they totally throw you off. If you read the books, you know how it all goes down, but the little twist is a pleasant surprise that will have you throwing your hands up in the air.
BREAKING DAWN PART 2 shows that despite the downfalls of the first two films, this is a magical story that shouldn’t be disregarded. It’s a story about love and all types of love. Although at first it seemed to be about a naïve girl obsessed with a 17-year-old vampire, it’s far more than that. Bella grows into a strong, independent, and powerful woman who will do anything for the people she loves. And if you ask me, that’s something to admire.
And let me just finish this off by saying – just remember girls, you too can be like Bella, you just don’t need a man or a magical world to do so.
