Hello again, ghosts and ghouls!

As horror fans, we’ve watched so many slasher films that it seems that any of us could survive the attack of a crazed killer.  You know, don’t have sex, don’t wander off alone, don’t drink or do drugs… but when you’re trying to attract a killer, of course you whip out your notepad and check off what not to do as you do them!

“Night of the Slasher,” directed by Shant Hamassian, sets our gorgeous protagonist (Lily Berlina) up with a checklist of things to accomplish to attract a killer in a Spock mask wielding a giant knife.  Opening with a close-up of her neck, it’s clear that she’s had a close encounter with this killer before, as she has a scar extending from one side to the other.  This girl wants revenge.

Hamassian does an awesome job of incorporating comic relief into an otherwise stressful and suspense-filled 11 minutes, leaving you guessing, giggling, and gasping throughout.

If you find yourself particularly enjoying the “girl-in-a-house-alone”-type flick, this short needs to be on your radar.  With such a cool female lead, Night of the Slasher leaves little to be desired in the realm of characters…Berlina is AWESOME.

Story/Concept: 2 (SO FUN!)
Direction/Style: 1
Scares: 1
Atmosphere: 2
Rewatchability: 1
TOTAL: 7/10

This short’s been getting awesome feedback, and it’s clear as to why.  It’s nominated for tons of awards (including the iHorror award for Best Short Film) and is playing at film festivals all over the country!  Make sure you give it a watch so you can stay on the pulse (get it? Because we’re horror fans? No…? -sigh-) of horror news!

Until next time, stay spooky!
