Spinal Column Short Film Review: THE THIN PLACE

Alright all you wide eyed Weirdo's, tonight we're getting supernaturally abducted in Alexander Matingly's horror short THE THIN PLACE!

The short centers around a mother and daughter who struggle with a reoccurring terror that comes at the same time every night.  The mother disregards her daughter's concern and fear until she is a witness to the terrifying situation herself.

Spinal Column Short Film Review: NIBBLE

Good evening fellow horror fiends,

Tonight we get into Greb Bellavia's horror short titled NIBBLE.  The story centers around Andy, who like a lot of young men, loves his girlfriend and hates his job.  What sets him apart from most though isn't the life he leads, but what's living in his wall.   We then see Andy awaken, in the middle of the night, to a disturbing crunching sound...

As far as filming goes, this short was very smooth and had very clean imagery.  This was surprising considering it's under 7 minutes long.  However, the filming assisted in maintaining my interest especially since other areas lacked something that I couldn't quite put my finger on.

Spinal Column Short Film Review: CHAINSAW

Today's tale of tubular terror is a short titled CHAINSAW written by Andrew Alter, David Dinetz, Dylan Trussel, directed by David Dinetz and Dylan Trussell and brought to you by the gore maestro himself Eli Roth. The film follows a no-named individual who finds his way with his chainsaw into the makeup chair at a local carnival in preparation to work at a cheesy haunt. Meanwhile, young adults pay the ticket to "ride" but the ride is on the wrong side of the Reapers scythe.

Good evening gore fiends and freaks!  Tonight we will be exploring Jason Eisener's gorey Christmas short titled TREEVENGE!

The plot to this short is rather hilarious.  After being plunked from their habitats, chopped, brought home and decorated, the Christmas trees have finally had enough and get their revenge on society!

If you aren't familiar with Jason Eisener's grindhouse style of filmmaking then you are missing out. His fake movie trailer "Hobo With Shotgun" was featured in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's exploitation homage film, GRINDHOUSE.  Eisener eventually went on to direct a full feature film of his trailer, HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN, which I would also highly recommend checking out.

Spinal Column Short Film Review: MONSTERS

Good day Kreeps,

Today I will be diving into Steve Desmond's short film titled MONSTERS.

MONSTERS is the story of a little girl and her family living in a cellar during a time period where supposed monsters roam the earth in a post-apocalyptic type of world.  As the story very quickly unfolds, our primary character, the little girl, displays an increased amount of bravery and curiosity as she sneakily ventures outside of the walls in which she is confined. This is when she discovers that her family has been hiding a dreadful secret for a very terrifying reason.
