Stranger With My Face Film Festival Short Review: MOUSE

Just recently, I had the chance to watch a crazy short titled MOUSE for the Stranger With My Face International Film Festival and I have to say, it kind of blew me away.

The film is directed by both Logan George and Celine Held who deliver one of the most raw and surreal stories I've ever seen. The short stars and revolves around Vanessa Wasche and Logan George, a couple who are in desperate need of money and will do just about anything to get it... including eating a mouse.

What I loved most about the story is the surreal atmosphere that the story bathes you in. I know people who are like this: strung out on drugs and are always looking for a fast and easy way to earn some cash. Seeing how far they go and how quickly it turns bad was revolting and thrilling and I couldn't take my eyes off the screen.

The acting by both Wasche and George was phenomenal as well. They delivered performances filled with intense emotions, several of them within a small period of time. The audience could feel their desperation and greed. Without them, the short would have been cheesy and far less intense.

Overall, MOUSE is one that I would highly recommend to anyone. It's the perfect short: it delivers on all points throughout the story, gives a satisfying ending, and most importantly doesn't leave us hanging.
