Grunge Shop Tavern Pop-Up Bar Opens This January

Monday January 14th, Sampson Creative Enterprises will partner with Brack Shop Tavern to bring Los Angeles a themed, pop-up event. Those in attendance will be transported to the Pacific Northwest in the year 1991. Welcome to Grunge Shop Tavern!

For one night in January, tie dye and batik tapestries will cover flat screen TV’s, regional neon’s will glow in the darkness, and concert fliers along side period imagery will make for unique photo opportunities throughout the space. It’s rare to hear iconic 90’s grunge bands played in public settings these days. Our custom playlist will make a noticeable impression, shifting the environment and mood out of the ordinary. You may even catch a whiff of Nag Champa.

To further the narrative, they’ll use atmospheric actors to contribute to the space. These characters will be strategically placed throughout the environment to add to the vibe. Patrons will also have a chance to interact with our master of ceremonies. Our fictitious “bar owner”, Old Doug, will tell the story of 1991 and the role her bar plays in the emerging music industry. This will be the first of three events that will take place January through March, over which Old Doug and the space will evolve in an engaging story arc.

What happens behind the bar will also be on theme. Staff will be outfitted with flannels and beanies. Their special food menu will reflect regional favorites with a focus on “sharable” plats to encourage interactive dining. Their beverage program will play off 90’s favorites, but using quality 2019 ingredients. Menu items include:

Food:

Crab and Artichoke Dip with Flatbread
Smoked Wild Mushroom and Gouda Quesadillas
Pacific Oysters On The Half Shell
Salmon Pastrami Sliders
Inside Out Tillamook Burgers

Drink:

Portlandian (Cosmo)
DB Cooper (Kamikaze)
White Washington (White Russian)
Mookie Tai (Mai Tai)
Superunknown (mystery drink)

Staying on theme, their cover charge to experience this unique themed space is $5 advance or at the door. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the volunteer program, LA Works. For more information visit www.experiencesce.com. To purchase tickets click HERE.
