Closing out their inaugural season of readings, Scripts Gone Wild returns to Los Angeles and El Cid on Sunset with a special Christmas-themed presentation of Joe Dante’s classic 1980’s horror/comedy, GREMLINS, about a gaggle of green little creatures that terrorize a picturesque community during ‘the most wonderful time of the year’.

Headlining the Christmas reading is W. Earl Brown, a renowned character actor best known for his work on the HBO series (and soon to be film), Deadwood. Elsewhere, Brown has been seen in prominent roles in series like True Detective, Preacher, I’m Dying Up Here and American Crime. His film work includes the dumpish cameraman “Kenny” in Wes Craven’s horror masterpiece, Scream, and as “Warren” in the Farrelly Brothers’ comedy masterpiece, There’s Something About Mary.

Joining Brown for the reading is Drew McWeeny, co-host of the popular podcast, 80’s All Over. An accomplished writer, author, and maven of all things geek, McWeeny contributed two scripts to the popular Masters of Horror anthology series.

Rounding out the first wave of casting are two current stars of hit Netflix series: Kimmy Shields, star of the controversial new series, Insatiable, also known for her work in Big Little Lies and Arrested Development; and Justin Dobies, who starred as fan favorite “Tommy Kinkle” in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. They join Scripts Gone Wild alum, Frank Dietz, known for genre fare such as Rock ‘n’ Roll Nightmare, Zombie Nightmare, and The Lost Skeleton Returns Again.

Founded at the Chattanooga Film Festival in 2017, Scripts Gone Wild is a monthly script reading series which takes celebrities, filmmakers, and influencers, gives them a popular film script, and thrusts them head-first into a drinking game where they are penalized for line flubs and missed cues. As the readers make mistakes, and as the drinks pile up, the riotous nature of the event really starts to shine. Scripts are rarely finished and – when they are – they might just be a mess. New additions to this incarnation of Scripts Gone Wild include more audience participation, and live musical accompaniment.

SCRIPTS GONE WILD - GREMLINS takes places Wednesday December 12th at 8:00pm at El Cid on Sunset (4212 Sunset Boulevard). Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. More info can be found at www.scriptsgonewild.com. Proceeds from this reading benefit the AMERICAN FOUNDATION FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION. ADDITIONAL CASTING WILL BE ANNOUNCED LEADING UP TO THE READING.
