IFC Films Brings AMERICAN FABLE to DVD July 11

When a girl discovers her father is hiding a wealthy man in her family's silo in order to save their struggling farm, she is forced to choose between saving the man's life or protecting her family in the gripping new thriller AMERICAN FABLE. The drama, about the dark underside of the American heartland, comes to DVD from IFC Films on July 11, 2017.

A dark, dreamlike mystery plays out amid the expansive farmlands of the American Midwest in this wondrous, storybook thriller. With her family's livelihood imperiled by the farm crisis of the 1980s, 11-year-old Gitty (Peyton Kennedy, XX, Odd Squad) loses herself in a world of fantasy and make-believe. But she stumbles into her own fairytale when she makes a startling discovery: a well-dressed mystery man (Richard Schiff, The West Wing, Ballers) being held captive in her family's silo. Thus begins a labyrinthine journey that will turn Gitty's world upside down and force her to question her loyalty to her own family.

Featuring chilling echoes of Pan's Labyrinth and Horns, AMERICAN FABLE unleashes a torrent of gorgeous, stunningly surreal images as it immerses viewers in a child's amazing imagination.

The IFC Films theatrical release, the feature debut from writer-director Anne Hamilton, also stars Gavin Macintosh (The Fosters, Bosch), Kip Pardu (Remember the Titans, Ray Donovan) and Marci Miller (Death Race 2050, Days of Our Lives).

AMERICAN FABLE received glowing reviews upon its release. Avi Offer of NYC Movie Guru called it "a haunting, moving, intelligent and gripping allegory" and said Peyton Kennedy "gives a breakthrough performance." Andrew Barker of Variety wrote, "Gorgeously shot, and helmed with a sense of daring and verve that belies Hamilton's greeness to feature filmmaking, this is a debut of obvious promise." Sheila O'Malley, writing at RogerEbert.com, said "there's an intense pleasure in the boldness of the film's style, it's confidence in what it is about."
