The film, which is inspired by the infamous true histories of Magdalene Laundries, intertwines possession and demonic entities with the horror that these women faced being confined to these institutions run by sadistic nuns. I remember exactly where I was the first time I watched Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's film SPRING (2014), as it has had a long-lasting effect on me and my passion (aka obsession) for Lovecraftian mythos. During the Gasparilla International Film Festival, Shannon had the chance to speak with actor and filmmaker Tommy Wiseau about his latest film in which he plays a mortician. Directed by his friend Greg Sestero, BEST F(R)IENDS tells the story of a drifter who befriends a quirky mortician, resulting in an unlikely business partnership that triggers the fragility of of friendship and loyalty. During the interview, Shannon and Tommy talked about everything from working in a real life mortuary to the real life story surrounding the inception of this film.
For the release of the occult horror film, PYEWACKET, Shannon had the chance to speak with actress Laurie Holden ("The Walking Dead") about her latest role. The film, which centers around a teenage girl who performs an occult ritual to evoke a witch to kill her mother, stars Laurie Holden as Mrs. Reyes, the target of her daughter's anger. During the interview Shannon and Laurie talked about everything from loss and grief, what interested her in Adam MacDonald's film, and her history of taking on roles that showcase strong female characters.
For the release of Zak Bagan's upcoming documentary, DEMON HOUSE, Shannon spoke with Father Mike Maginot about his experiences with the "house of 200 demons". During their talk, Father Mike shared his story about working with the Ammon family which included LaToya Ammon and her three children; a daughter and two sons. The former residents of the home experienced supernatural occurrences including physical contact, possessions, and levitation and Father Maginot was on hand to perform an exorcism on LaToya Ammon to free her and her family from any demonic entities.
