Haunt Review: THE HAUNTED LODGE

Scareventures returns to “The Haunted Lodge” with Camp Calavera for the 2018 haunt season in San Diego, California. The team amped up their haunt with more scares to frighten the unlucky campers this year. While the story is essentially similar to what they had last year, it was a bit more cohesive and the scares built up to the grand finale of the haunt.

As Halloween started to come to a close, I found myself trying to squeeze in as much creepy stuff as I could before the month was over. Thankfully, the Elks Lodge in El Cajon California debuted their community haunt just in time for prime spook season. The El Cajon Elks Lodge 1812 teamed up with Scareventures to present a THE HAUNTED LODGE, a maze that takes you through some eerie woods where you encounter some interesting characters.

The Del Mar Fairgrounds in sunny San Diego gets transformed into the menacing Del Mar Scaregrounds where it hosts the yearly The Scream Zone. Preparations for this event begin immediately after the San Diego County Fair concludes on July 4th. They spend 2 and a half months creating the haunts, hiring actors and getting everything else ready to make sure they put on a fun and great show. I attended this year, it’s 20th year to be exact, under a full Harvest Moon’s light.
