CBS Films has given us an exclusive clip to share with you all from the upcoming film, SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK. Make sure you check it out below and let us know what you think.

In the exclusive clip below, we get to meet Harold. If you guys are familiar with Harold, he is the scarecrow character that haunted some of our dreams growing up. His familiar screaming visage graced the cover of the original book and, for people like me who really only remember the original illustrations, he was a defining memory from our childhood.

All I know from this clip though is that no one should ever chuck things at scarecrows. I mean, that’s horror movie trapped in the cornfields 101. Am I right?

From visionary producer and Academy Award winner Guillermo Del Toro comes SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK, arriving in theaters everywhere August 9, 2019 from CBS Films, Lionsgate and eOne.

It’s 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home.

SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK is directed by André Øvredal based on the screenplay by Dan Hageman & Kevin Hageman. The film stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Ganzhorn.
