Sony Pictures‘ Screen Gems and The H Collective have released the final trailer for the upcoming superhero film with a horror twist, BRIGHTBURN. And, I don’t know about you guys, but I’m seriously scared.

While previous trailers of the film have spent time building up the child’s progression into his abnormal powers before he succumbs to the villain with, this final trailer wastes no time in showcasing the true depths of evil and violence that reside within the child. And to just unleash all of that upon us now serves as a final reminder that shit is truly going down in this latest film from James Gunn. The question is whether or not we are ready to see this.

What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With BRIGHTBURN, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.

BRIGHTBURN stars Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games films, Power Rangers), David Denman (“Grey’s Anatomy”, “The Office”), Jackson A. Dunn (“Glow”, Gone are the Days), Matt Jones (“Breaking Bad”, “Mom”), and Meredith Hagner (The Oath, Set It Up).

The film is directed by David Yarovesky (The Hive) from a script by Gunn’s brother, Brian Gunn (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island), and cousin, Mark Gunn (The Girlfriend Experience). The executive producers are Brian Gunn, Mark Gunn, Simon Hatt (Guardians of the Galaxy), Dan Clifton (The Boy Downstairs), Nic Crawley (Wolf Warrior 2), and Kent Huang (The Parts You Lose).

The film will soar into theaters on May 24, 2019. Just in time for Memorial Day Weekend!
