Growing up as a child in Los Angeles, I would always hear that Madame Tussauds was one of the must-see attractions to go to in Hollywood. While I had always been fascinated by the process in which each wax figure was made, I had never gotten the opportunity to go and visit the infamous museum. That’s why when we got the invite to go celebrate the latest pop-up installation at the museum titled “THE 90s ARE HERE“, I jumped at the chance to see the different wax figures that took us through different eras in entertainment with beautifully eerie realism. Walking through the hallways and seemingly going forward in time, the process seamlessly transitioned until we reached the ’90s room and it didn’t disappoint.

At their kick-off press event themed to a 90s party, Madame Tussauds treated attendees to a variety of 90s thematic experiences that made the night feel like a night truly immersed in the ‘90s. We were treated to delicious food from Saved by the Max, which was obviously very reminiscent of what memories could recall from the hit TV show “Saved by the Bell”. Guests were also treated to hair makeovers Schwarzkopf Professionals, which was how I was finally able to live my dream of having butterfly clips interwoven in my hair. Throw in drinks from the Hello Kitty cafe and guests invited to the 90s party event were able to get in the bestest of moods before diving into the new installation.

Comedian Tom Green was the host for the evening, which brought back memories from some of the attendees who were familiar with “The Tom Green Show”. For those of you who are unfamiliar, “The Tom Green Show” ran from 1994 to around 2000 before being revived in 2003. In my case, due to being an early ‘90s baby,  I could only recall him as “the Chad” from the Charlie’s Angels reboot, but it was still really cool to be able to meet him in person.

“THE 90s ARE HERE” installation does not scrimp on the immersive elements perfect for our social media age. Attendees have the opportunity to play around in a Lisa Frank-styled ball pit complete with a giant unicorn floatie that I must have for my own! For anyone who wants to dabble with old-school gaming consoles, there is an area where you can play some ‘90s video games. And, to round out the immersive portion of the installation, there is a complete ‘90s bedroom set that features quintessential ‘90s elements like the Furby, Ouija boards, Hello Kitty, and loads of questionable color combinations.

It wouldn’t be a proper Madame Tussauds event without me discussing the wax figures. There were loads of ’90s figures featured throughout the exhibit. Attendees get the chance to see figures like Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy Summers, Britney Spears in her Baby One More Time period, a brand new Selena Quintanilla set, Tupac, and so much more. I was super proud of myself being able to remember who everyone was throughout the course of viewing the exhibit.

All in all, there’s plenty for people of all ages to do at the latest installation at Madame Tussauds. There are wax figures, interactive elements, and great photo opportunities to keep everyone engaged.
