BOO! is about a torn family who refuses to heed the warning of an innocent prank left upon them. The prank causes supernatural forces to wreak havoc on the family and when it says havoc, they’re not joking!

BOO! is directed by Luke Jaden and the cast includes Aurora Perrineau, Jaden Piner, Jill Marie Jones, Rob Zabrecky, and Charley Palmer Rothwell.

It’s no secret that supernatural movies have come back to fashion. Before that, horror movies were dominated by torture porn like Saw or Hostel. It was Paranormal Activity that helped ghosts come back then The Conjuring helped it even further.

Where does the new movie from Luke Jaden fit in with the paranormal genre? I would say that it’s a very weird movie with a little blood. The cast is solid too. Would I say that it’s creepy, I would say that there were a few scenes that made me shiver. The bathroom scene to me was the most twisted in the movie (the empty crib too), though there are scenes of possession that are crazy.

This is Luke Jaden’s first feature film, though he’s done many shorts, so it will be interesting to see more of his work in the future. I think that BOO! shows that he’s a good storyteller and it does help that Jaden, along with Diane Mitchelle, wrote the story.

Does BOO! stay with you after watching it? I would say that it has some memorable parts, especially the intense ending! It doesn’t bring anything new to the genre, but it does fit perfectly in the paranormal genre. While the characters do have their problems, my favorite was Elyse and Morgan.

The movie is under an hour and a half, so it’s not long at all. The pacing is pretty perfect, and when it starts it doesn’t stop. So overall, BOO! was a treat to watch especially since it’s October. It has a few minor issues, but I think a lot of people will like it, especially since the genre is popular!
