Movie Review: THE NAMELESS - Nightmarish Conjurings

Salutations my screechers, screamers, and scary dreamers,

In tonight’s tale of terror entitled “The Nameless” we witness a woman’s remorse resurface after receiving a frantic phone call concerning her dead daughter. Scandal sheet columnists, crazy cultists, nasty Nazis, and the pursuit of pure evil ensue.

This film is not incredibly horrific but the tone presented is quite terrific as it portrays a woman in mourning and switches to horror without much warning. The mood is complemented by a wonderful piano composition which proves to be a crucial addition that lulls us into a false sense before a sudden change makes our heart freeze. The shifting in gears provides a minimal scare but I was too wrapped up in the story to care so this can hardly be described as a fright fest since the scares presented are not the best.

The plot is much cleverer than it initially seems as it deftly guides us through every parent’s worst dream and it sneaks up craftily with its footsteps hushed in a way that never feels rushed. I was impressed with how the story progressed because it went in ways I would have never guessed and I liked how the tale naturally grew and would say that alone makes it worth a view. To me the finale was weakened by the last frame which I thought weakened the movie’s aim by putting the focus on a supporting character’s deed and not letting us see a reaction from our lead.
