Getting rid of ghosts is serious business, but finding the right expert to do the job proves to be a real challenge in the new comedic horror film ANOTHER EVIL. The film, a hit at SXSW, BAMcinematicFest and the Fantasia Film Festival, will be released on DVD and Blu-ray by Dark Sky Films on July 18, 2017.

Today the LA Film Festival, produced by Film Independent, announced the winners of the 2017 Festival at the Awards Reception presided over by Festival Director Jennifer Cochis and Film Independent President Josh Welsh. The Festival's juried awards include the U.S. Fiction Award, U.S. Fiction Cinematography Award presented by Aputure, World Fiction Award, Documentary Award, LA Muse Awards, and Nightfall Award, as well as the Short Fiction Award and the Short Documentary Award. Audience awards are presented for Fiction Feature Film, Documentary Feature Film, Short Film and Web Series. Festival Guest Director Miguel Arteta (Chuck & Buck, The Good Girl, Beatriz at Dinner) was awarded the Spirit of Independence Award at the event for his work advancing the cause of independent film and championing creative freedom. Film Independent President Josh Welsh also took the opportunity to thank the more than 60 generous sponsors, funders and media partners without whom the Festival would not be possible.

Los Angeles-based XYZ Films has announced that they will handle domestic sales rights to THE DARK, the debut arthouse horror film from writer/director Justin P. Lange. The film was lensed and co-directed by cinematographer Klemens Hufnagl, and was inspired by Lange's Columbia University thesis short film of the same name. The XYZ Films announcement comes right after this year's ‘Frontières Goes to Cannes’ buyers’ showcase, a part of the Marché du Film where the producers screened 15 minutes of the work-in-progress.

The 20th edition of the fiercely independent film festival Dances With Films (DWF) concluded on Sunday evening (June 11) with a closing night celebration at the TCL Chinese Theaters in Hollywood where the excitement was electric throughout the arena. Filmmakers and VIP guests enjoyed the festival's signature green carpet, awards ceremony, and a party featuring live music by Daniel Morris & Saizon Trio. Screening as the closing night film was the world premiere of AUSTIN FOUND from filmmaker Will Raée, starring Skeet Ulrich, Ursula Parker, Patrick Warburton, Matt Jones, Jon Daly, and Reza Sixo Safai, all of whom were in attendance. The film also stars Linda Cardellini, Jaime Pressley, Kristen Schaal, Craig Robinson, and Chris Parnell.
After six weeks of sold-out performances in Southern Oregon, Puppeteers for Fears, the Pacific NW's only dedicated puppet musical horror troupe, will be bringing its original show, CTHULHU: THE MUSICAL! to the Shoe Box Theater in Portland on July 15 and 16, and then to Seattle for performances at 18th and Union July 21, 22, and 24.
